There are tons of affiliate programs available to choose from which can make the decision of choosing one a little overwhelming. So the obvious question is how do you find the best affiliate program for making the most money? This is a very important decision that you want to get right the first time. These are some of the things that you should look for:
- You want to make sure that the affiliate program has a good reputation and that they pay on time. Unfortunately, there are some affiliates out there that cheat their affiliates by not paying in a timely manner or not at all. You don't want to waste your time and money promoting products for people that aren't going to pay you.
- Usually the better affiliate programs will have a variety of tools to help you promote their products such as banner ads. This is usually a good sign that they want their affiliates to be successful.
- Programs that offer a monthly subscription are preferable, because you can get residual income from one sale.
- High commissions are also nice; just remember that they can be a little harder to sell.
To choose that perfect affiliate program, you're going to want to know a little about them before doing business with them. Here are some of the steps you should take when making this very important decision:
- Search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing are good tools to use to get more information about various affiliate programs. A technique to use that will let you see who is promoting the affiliate program you're researching is to do a search with the text link ad as the search terms. You will want to make sure you put it in quotation marks. The results of the search will mostly be websites that have are promoting that product.
- You're going to want to subscribe to some blogs that belong to proven affiliate marketers that are making a lot of money. It's important that you listen to others in order to find out what programs have been working for other marketers. Many of them post monthly earnings reports which will give you a good idea of which programs are working the best.
- They need to have good customer service. If they don't respond to your questions in a timely manner, you will probably have problems with them in the future, like when you contact them wanting to know why you haven't been paid.
- Forums are a place that people love to vent. If you snoop around the forums, you can find out what programs to stay from and pick up a lot of useful advice.
I usually feel the most confident about promoting an affiliate program if another company such as ClickBank or any of the others that are well known is handling all the transactions. This means there's a trusted company receiving all the payments for the product and paying the affiliates for their services. Of course, there's a lot companies out there that wouldn't dare cheat their distributors since this is what keeps a lot of them in business. I'm mostly concerned about those that I don't know much about, but if you take the time and do your research, you usually don't have anything to worry about.
One thing that I do, no matter how much I trust a company, is make an anonymous purchase using my affiliate link occasionally. If I don't get paid, there's no excuse they can make that will convince me to continue promoting their product. I'm not going to waste my time and money promoting a product for anybody that I have to constantly watch. and I suggest you do the same. There's too many credible companies to do business with for me to waste time trying to always make sure I'm getting paid like I'm suppose to.
